Rage Against the Carpet

It doesn't take much for us to ruin a carpet.  We were able to pull this sucker up, staples, nails and all faster than you can say hello hardwood floor.

This is what the floor looked like under the carpet.  Painted brown with some white splattered paint.  Nothing a little rubbing alchohol couldn't take care of...

Ophielia and the squirrel

We're movin' on up...

stairs!

We finally have all of our rooms figured out. For almost a year, we've been playing musical chairs, rotating the use of each room. It is hard to believe that it's been a year since we moved in, but we are sooo grateful to not be moving and staying put for more than a year.

Mystery Tree Solved

Our apologies to whoever voted for pears -- the tree, as it turns out, is yielding beautiful, delicious and marvelous PLUMS!

Home Is Where Your Heart Is

Turns out we have a TON of work to do in the garden. Unlike Colorado, the garden is not dormant during the winter, and pruning is a necessity. Here is just some of what we've been working on...

This is a shot of the heart shaped garden island in the back...

Question: To build a spiral mound herb garden in it, or not. The other option is to leave the flowers (yet to bloom in this pic) and plants or take them out for the herbs. We're 50/50 Julia/Tom so we need your vote.

Here's Rabbit doing some planting in the vegetable garden.

THE GREAT FIREPLACE PROJECT
PART I

Thank you to the many who cast their vote on what to do with the fireplace. The majority spoke and said that they wanted to see it painted. While we let that decision sink in, we decided to embark on a fireplace improvement project that EVERYONE could agree on:

Removing the brick that was on the floor. The brick on the floor covered most of, except a tantalizing inch of beautiful tile. It had to be done. The state of the tile beneath, no one knew, but it was a risk worth taking...

Coming up Next..

UPSTAIRS! See you next time!

Winter!

With winter upon us, we can't work on the house every weekend. These pictures may justify our slacking on this blog.

It may not look like it, but Julia's totally shredding the mountain, and Tom is definitely the coolest guy on the mountain.

The Office

this is where we conduct serious business...over a bottle of wine

Downstairs Guest Room

Dining Room

A delicious feast from the carniceria a couple blocks away...

Upcoming projects include, "why must that light fixture hang so?"

Question: do we put a mirror or artwork in that space on the wall, or nothing.

Living Room

So we still have not come to a decision with the fireplace...

Finally, she posts!

After talking up our blog WAY too much, I'm finally adding some updated pics. My apologies for the hype...I forgot that our house is, indeed, a work in progress and that each room will not be exactly how we want it before each post...

Feedback, please!

Day 14 - Color Experiment BEFORE

Once we completed one practical project ( having the front foundation wall replaced) it was time to get some color on the walls. Feedback is always appreciated, as this is really a learning experience of what works and what doesn't.

STAY TUNED FOR "AFTER" PICS!!!!

Welcome to the Dollhouse

This is the picture that inspired us to buy a house at all. Who could resist the cork screw willow in the front yard, the picture window, and of course the orange blue combo...
