Wok and Roll

So, over the past year, we've removed a cabinet, painted the walls, and have finally begun to put knobs on the cabinets.  We anguished over whether or not to update the cabinets, and even went so far to have a "free" in home estimate of what we could do.  The pain of the process taught us that nothing is actually free, and in the end, realized that we LOVE our clean, flat cabinets.

This view would not have been possible if the cabinet still existed.

Stay tuned for when we get all of the knobs installed!

Floor finished

Somehow we never actually posted the finished result...I also hate to say it, but this picture doesn't really do it justice.  Not to mention that we updated and painted the baseboards and painted the walls...all in the same day!  (not shown here, but promise updated pictures soon).

Rage Against the Carpet

It doesn't take much for us to ruin a carpet.  We were able to pull this sucker up, staples, nails and all faster than you can say hello hardwood floor.

This is what the floor looked like under the carpet.  Painted brown with some white splattered paint.  Nothing a little rubbing alchohol couldn't take care of...

Up Next: Sanding and finishing!

Ophielia and the squirrel

We're movin' on up...

stairs!

We finally have all of our rooms figured out. For almost a year, we've been playing musical chairs, rotating the use of each room. It is hard to believe that it's been a year since we moved in, but we are sooo grateful to not be moving and staying put for more than a year.

Home Is Where Your Heart Is

Turns out we have a TON of work to do in the garden. Unlike Colorado, the garden is not dormant during the winter, and pruning is a necessity. Here is just some of what we've been working on...

This is a shot of the heart shaped garden island in the back...

Question: To build a spiral mound herb garden in it, or not. The other option is to leave the flowers (yet to bloom in this pic) and plants or take them out for the herbs. We're 50/50 Julia/Tom so we need your vote.

Here's Rabbit doing some planting in the vegetable garden.
